Adopt a Highway Project
Our stretch of highway is two miles on Airport Road, starting at the intersection of Highway 99, along both sides of the road.
We had our maiden voyage in November 2001, when we filled 36 bags in about 2 1/2 hours with the help of twelve volunteers who expressed interest in the opportunity.
The terrain varies from rather steep side banks to fairly flat wide shoulders. It is rural country, mainly bordered by farm fields and some industrial buildings. We have safety vests, hard hats, bags, and pick-up tools provided by the Benton County Highway Department.
We intend to do the pick up at least three times over a twelve-month period. Groups within the church who are interested in doing the litter pick-up as part of their activities can make arraignments with the coordinator Marge Stevens, by calling the church office at 752-2491 or contact us by email at email@example.com.
Otherwise, we will call our list of interested parties, or advertise the next pick-up as a Congregational Opportunity.
It's a fun way to get some fresh air, a little exercise and a chance to get to know your partner as you visit the time away.
