We are a congregation on a journey to Sustainability, recognizing that we are stewards of God’s creation for all generations, and believing that all human needs must be met equitably. The Natural Step Framework is our guide to Sustainability.

We can examine each of the four Natural Step Guiding Objectives and ask ourselves a question.

  1. Eliminate our contribution to systematic increases in concentrations of substances from the earth’s crust. “Can the earth replace what I take or use?”
  2. Eliminate our contribution to systematic increases in substances produced by society. “Do my actions poison the earth, water, air?”
  3. Eliminate our contribution to encroachment upon nature. “Am I interfering with the regenerative capacity of our ecosystem?”
  4. Remove barriers that undermine human ability to meet their needs worldwide. “Are the choices I make fair and equitable, making sure all humankind has enough?”

There are several ways to participate in Sustainability – on an individual level, through small group activities, through church education and workshop activities, as a member of the Sustainability/Natural Step Ministry Team, in community activities such as the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, as a member of other church organizations, and more.

New Unusual Recyclables Directory for 2017

We are pleased to share the 2017 edition of the Unusual Recyclables Directory, compiled in partnership with Albany First United Methodist Church and Philomath College United Methodist Church. This directory provides information on where to take items that cannot be recycled at the curbside nor put into the trash. The download file folds into a handy tri-fold reference.
